IMCS Marine and Cargo surveyors - History
History
IMCS – Antwerp was founded in 1990 and has since become prominent in the field of marine survey companies. Ever since it’s existence, efforts were placed in discovering new challenges and working together with surveyors and survey companies internationally, which eventually resulted in the set-up of an international IMCS network of marine survey companies with highly qualified and experienced surveyors.
All IMCS survey companies are members of the IMCS Group Of Companies which is an umbrella organization registered in England and formed in 2001 in order to further strengthen the ties between IMCS member companies, improve survey and reporting standards and enhance professionalism through in-house training programs, seminars and Group meetings.
The IMCS-Group of Companies now consists of 11 IMCS members which are located in strategic, marine focal points world-wide.
The IMCS Group is further strengthened by a number of Associate Members who prefer to keep an independent status in their geographical area, but value the importance of working closely together with an internationally recognized Group of marine surveyors. Associate Members have been carefully selected and are only allowed to join as an Associate Member after successfully passing a thorough screening process and trial period, this in order to ensure that the IMCS Group quality standards can be met with. For more info on the Associate Membership Scheme, click on associate membership.
The IMCS Group has further developed a unique concept which involves Affiliate Members who have specialist experience in specific niche markets such as containers, dangerous goods, marine and industry audits, naval architects, chemists, metallurgists, and who assist IMCS Members and Associate Members in providing expert assistance. On their turn, these companies can consult IMCS members and Associate Members whenever they are in need of marine and survey related info.
Due to the fact that most of the Group Members are assigned to survey, consultancy and training jobs worldwide, opportunities for extending the present network of survey offices, associate members and affiliate members are continuously explored, although it should be said that rapid expansion has never been a goal and that attention remains focused on professionalism and high quality standards.
